Fortunately, for all of us concerned with our health and the environment, pioneer farmers took matters into their own hands. They brought new methods to cotton farming, producing what can now be proudly displayed as organic cotton. More farmers are seeing the light every year. Certified organic cotton earns its label by being grown in soil where the use of pesticides has been discontinued for at least three years. Compost and other organic matter enrich the soil, and weeds are controlled by innovative farm machinery and old-fashioned hand-to-earth labor. Farmers utilize frequent crop rotation and beneficial insects to further assist the crops without the use of herbicides. The Earthsake Natural Bedroom is organic, pure & local. Because of the ecological efforts of select cotton farmers here in the USA, we offer USA grown certified organic cotton that is pure & natural in its entirety.  Certified organic cotton is grown in soil where the use of pesticides has been discontinued for at least three years. earthSake organic cotton is grown primarily in Texas and California by select organic cotton farmers that meet our vigorous standards.   For those who prefer the somewhat firmer feel of cotton, we carry The Earthsake Natural Bedroom pillows with 100% organic cotton fill. The shell is made of local organic cotton too.  Our local organic cotton is  unbleached, untreated, undyed and totally formaldehyde-free.  We do not use additives of any kind.   In addition to this, you'll find Local Sonoma PureGrow Wool™ wrapped organic cotton in our mattresses, providing support and breathability.  Organic Cotton is a strong fiber, and we value it for that.  Now, however, with all local organic cotton, we value it for being more environmentally conscientious with a low carbon footprint & local support.  It's just another component of our dedication to health and comfort using local sustainable materials that promote our local farmers.
