The Earthsake Utopia mattress is one of the first and only all natural customizable latex mattresses to meet strict standards for sustainable organic purity. Using only 100% pure botanical natural latex from the Brazilian rubber tree, our latex is collected by hand in liquid form from the sap of thousands of rubber trees living full life spans in 100% sustainable forests. The liquid is filtered by hand and spun in a centrifuge which whips the latex with air to create a milk shake-like consistency that is then poured into large ovens (similar to large belgian waffle irons). The latex is steam-cooked to solid form and then rinsed with drinkable water 3 times. No chemicals are ever introduced during the entire process at any time so you can be assured you have only the most natural, clean & green botanical latex in your mattress. Only pincore holes (air holes) remain in the latex cores which provide for all natural breathability & firmness/softness levels. This creates an ideal sleeping surface because it naturally fits your body's needs and adjusts to the subtle differences of every body contour. This helps to reduce pressure areas and prevent restricted capillary blood flow, which can cause muscle aches, tossing and turning, and other sleep-related discomforts.

Our recommendations: We've been matching people to comfortable mattresses for many years and know how to create the best fit... so we always recommend speaking with one of our professionals to find the best fit. We may already have a mattress for you that you dont have to customize on your own. However, if you want to make your own bed or need to customize each side of the bed a little differently for each person then this is the mattress for you and our professionals can give you the advice you need for each side.
Here are a few general tips: Stomach and side-sleepers tend to like a softer feel while back-sleepers tend to like a firmer feel. This is not always the case so its up to you. Even the softest beds manufactured today have at least one level of firmer support toward the bottom with the soft layers on top. As such, even if you love an extremely soft feel we recommend a bottom layer of at least Medium or Firm latex to simply give you the support your body needs. You can use soft latex for the middle and top layers and it will be plenty soft and comfy. On the other end of the spectrum, Even the firmest of beds manufactured today have a slightly softer top layer to provide a little bit of "give" to fit your body contour without any loss of firm body support. As such - unless you really do prefer and enjoy sleeping on a hard floor we do recommend using at least one Medium level latex on the top layer. A Firm - Firm - Medium setting would equate to today's Extra and Super Firm latex mattresses being manufactured. You can do whatever you'd like - but these are some good guidelines to be aware of.

This mattress will come to you via UPS and you simply place the unzipped cover on your bedframe or foundation - place each latex layer into the cover and zip it up.
The Organic Cotton zipper-cover contains locally harvested PureGrow Organic Wool quilting on the inside to provide added comfort, natural temperature regulation and, most importantly, all natural fire-retardancy - so no chemicals are ever needed or ever used --- ever. And the natural rubber/latex layers are 100% natural & chemical free - no toxic petrochemicals are found in our latex like you find in memory foam and other "eco-friendly" latex mattresses. We dont need to use Green-tea or any other natural odor controller to cover up toxic smells. Our competitors may do so in order to claim that their memory foam "contains" all natural latex/rubber material. We think such odor controlling tactics used only to cover up toxic smell while self-proclaiming to be a "green" or "eco-friendly" solution is both misleading and irresponsible since the toxins remain in their mattresses!
