We're very happy to offer organic kapok - a wonderful and sustainably harvested silk fiber pillow fill.  Kapok is a fine vegan silk that is sustainably harvested from the Pods of Ceiba trees found in protected tropical rain forests and surrounding areas.  Entire village economies and forest protection practices are centered on the harvesting of this amazing soft fiber.

Kapok is organic by nature with an amazing sustainability story:

Light and fluffy Kapok fiber is responsibly harvested from Tropical Rain Forests.   The seed pods are annually gathered from the Kapok Tree - maintaining the forests in an environmentally friendly way, while providing employment for the indigenous people. They gather this plant based vegan pillow stuffing - a sustainable resource that provides long lasting value.  

 Kapok Environmental & Economic Benefits

Growing & Harvesting kapok has the lowest environmental impact compared to any other fiber materials in use today, including organic cotton.  The trees are not cut down and do not require irrigation or any chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides.  Not only is the kapok tree an important part of rainforest ecology, but it also plays a pivotal role in forest preservation efforts. 

 

The emerging industry is beginning to stimulate many local economies improving the lives of women and their families in rural areas (helping to stem migration to more densely populated urban areas).
